About us
Strategy
Helmholtz Zentrum München is the German Research Center for Environmental Health. We investigate chronic diseases which develop from the interaction of environmental factors and individual genetic predisposition.
- We combine biomedical and environmental research.
- We place emphasis on excellent basic research, experimental platforms, clinical cooperation groups, and centers for translational medicine. Here we collaborate with Munich universities and with other leading national and international institutions.
- We place particular importance on the promotion of junior scientists and on human resources development.
- We implement many measures to promote equal opportunity.
- We commit our scientific competence to the service of society by advising policy makers and by providing scientific expertise for legislation.
- We generate knowledge and create value, by supporting the exploitation of new technologies and the application of results.
