Clinical Cooperation Group Immunooncology: Objectives
Human herpesviruses are very widespread in the healthy population, but may cause severe disease in immunosuppressed patients, for example after transplantation.
- Our group studies T cells specific for human herpesviruses Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), cytomegalovirus (CMV) and human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6).
- We develop EBV-based gene vectors to facilitate the generation and analysis of virus-specific T cells.
- We identify and study virus-specific T cells in order to understand their role in the control of infection.
- We develop methods that are quicker and easier than those available before to isolate or to generate virus-specific T cells and to use them to treat patients with herpesviral disease.
