Department of Radiation Sciences (DRS): Expertise in Radiation Research
DRS mission: “To optimise the benefits from applications of ionising radiation, whilst affording protection against possible damaging effects”
DRS research is based upon three columns, each of which addresses major societal needs in Environmental Health, and which are conform to the Helmholtz Zentrum München goals for increased translational activity and personalized medicine with a disease focus. The columns are:
- Environment: Radioecology and Dosimetry
- Radiation and Risk
- Medical Applications of Ionising Radiation
The research activities of the DRS partners are represented in the activities of these three columns, demonstrating the synergy and interdisciplinary cooperation we strive to achieve. At the same time the focussing of research activity on only three columns generates the critical mass needed to remain internationally competitive.
