ENGAGE – European Network for Genetic and Genomic Epidemiology

ENGAGE (European Network for Genetic and Genomic Epidemiology) has, as its central objective, the translation of the wealth of data emerging from large-scale research efforts in molecular epidemiology into information of direct relevance to future advances in clinical medicine. ENGAGE will do this through the integration of very large-scale genetic and phenotypic data already available from a substantial number of large and well-characterized European (and other) sample sets of various types. KORA-gen brings its genome-wide study KORA F3/S3 500K and KORA S4 as replication sample into the consortium. The initial focus of ENGAGE will be an integrated analysis of more than 80,000 genomewide association scans available to the consortium, thereby identifying the large number of novel disease-susceptibility variants undetectable in individual studies.

Partners in the ENGAGE network include the Institute for Molecular Medicine, University of Helsinki, Finland, the Oxford University, UK, EMBL, European Molecular Biology Laboratory, UK, Queen’s University Belfast, UK, King’s College London, UK, Solexa Ltd., UK, Leiden University Medical Center, Center for Medical Systems Biology, Netherlands, Erasmus MC, Netherlands, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, Lund University, Sweden, Uppsala University, Sweden, School of Biotechnology, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, Norwegian Institute of Public Health, Norway,  Estonian Genome Project, University of Tartu, Estonia, deCODE genetics, Iceland, Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, Canada, Faculty of Law, University of Montreal, Canada,  Centre Genomic Regulation, Spain, University of Leicester, United Kingdom, University of Lübeck, Germany, Imperial College, UK, Queensland Institute of Medical Research, Australia, The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute,UK.

The network is funded by the EU - SEVENTH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME FP7-Health.
