Evaluation of publications in „Nutrition Research“
Top Ranking for Jakob Linseisen
Recently, the periodical Laborjournal published the results of an evaluation of publications prepared by German scientists active in Nutrition Research. Privatdozent Dr. Jakob Linseisen ranked second among a long list of scientists, reflecting his excellent publication record during the years 2005-2008 (see below).

The scientific work of Dr. Linseisen is dedicated to the identification of the role of dietary factors in the development of chronic diseases, especially cancers of different sites. He investigated the role of food consumption, including fruit and vegetables or meat consumption, on disease risk; as a focus of his research activities he studied the impact of dietary intake of nutrients (vitamin D, vitamin K, selenium) and other food components (glucosinolates, phytoestrogens, polyphenols) on maintaining good health. Lipids and lipid-derived metabolites continued to be of major scientific interest. For his epidemiological studies, he primarily made use of data from the European EPIC (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition) project as well as of the Heidelberg part of EPIC for which he signed responsible (PI) over five years.
In February 2009, Dr. Linseisen moved to the Helmholtz Centre Munich, Institute of Epidemiology, where he is heading the research group „National Cohort“. Most of the here evaluated publications of Dr. Linseisen were prepared during his time at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg (which explains the outdated affiliation).
