Welcome to the website of the

Institute of Genetic Epidemiology
(Helmholtz Zentrum München)

and the

Chair of Genetic Epidemiology
(University of Munich, Institute of
Medical Informatics, Biometry and
Epidemiology – IBE)

The Institute of Genetic Epidemiology deals with genetic statistics. This comprises planning, realization and analysis of genetic-epidemiological projects of complex disease as well as on the development of new statistical methods. The aim of the Institute is to contribute to the elucidation of genetic causes of complex traits.

The activities extend to genome-wide association analyses and linkage analyses (family studies) of a wide variety of diseases. A focus is on diseases that are assessed in the context of the population-based KORA cohort.

The Institute of Genetic Epidemiology hosts the KORA-gen platform. This database contains extensive genotypic data as well as metabolomic, methylation, and expression profiles, of the population-based KORA cohort. The platform provides access to genotype and phenotype data, as well as to biosamples, for collaborative research projects.

You can download several software packages for statistical genetic analysis from our website (Software).
