Ecotoxicology - Impact and Indicators
Environmental model systems on different scales (regulatome: cell-tissue-organism-ecosystem) as part of zoo-, phyto- and their nano-spheres are investigated for their chemical impact and the resulting effects in biota, if possible complementary to human health. Particularly persistent hydrophilic and super-hydrophobic, low-molecular molecules of high biological activity such as hormones are hypothesized to represent regulators of environmental molecular signalling. Hyphenated instrumental chemical analysis for ultra-trace regulators is employed in combination with advanced quantitative bio-molecular diagnostic tools to prove their role across scales.
