Epidemiology
Epidemiologists study the prevalence, determinants and consequences of diseases on a populational basis. They use statistical methods to analyze data of large population-based studies to determine temporal trends of diseases or their associations with genetic or environmental risk factors.
At the IDF1, statistical / epidemiological methods are used in various research questions. Analyses of the large database of the IDF contribute to the identification of risk factors of type 1 diabetes and therefore to the development of prevention measurements. The analysis of determinants and consequences of gestational diabetes is another important topic at the IDF1.
