Former Members
The scientific quality at the IDG researchers is reflected by the fact that several group leaders have been recruited to prestigious academic positions (head of departments) at well-respected research centres or universities in Germany, France, and Japan. These former groups includ
- The “Zebrafish Neurogenetics” group (ZEN) was headed by Laure Bally-Cuif. The team was mainly focusing on developmental and adult neurogenesis in zebrafish, establishing the zebrafish as model for complex neuropsychiatric behaviour. Since 2009 L. Bally-Cuif heads the Department of Zebrafish Neurogenetics at Laboratory of Neurobiology & Development, Institute of Neurobiology Alfred Fessard, Gif-sur-Yvette France.
- The “Zebrafish Neuroimaging” group headed by Reinhard Köster studied neuronal migration and regeneration using the latest imaging technologies in zebrafish. Reinhard Köster followed a call for a professorship position at the University of Braunschweig in 2010.
- Kenji Imai was head of the “Somite Development” group, who focused on the molecular mechanism of sclerotome development and chondrogenesis in mice by taking advantage of spontaneous and ENU induced mutations. Kenji Imai left the Institute in 2006 to assume a professorship position at the Tokai University, School of Medicine, Japan.
