Helmholtz Alliance
The Helmholtz Alliance “HelMA – Mental Health in an Ageing Society” brings together outstanding researchers from four Helmholtz Centres, the Max-Planck-Institute of Psychiatry and five German Universities. Coordinated by Prof. Wurst, this project addresses various aspects of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Age, environmental factors (life style), and genetic predisposition represent the main risk factors for the development of these two major neurological diseases. Within HelMA, scientists mutually explore this complex and search for potential therapeutic interventions in collaboration with industrial partners.
