EMMA - The European Mouse Mutant Archive
The European Mouse Mutant Archive (EMMA) is a non-profit repository for the collection, archiving and distribution of mice valuable to medical research.
The EMMA network with the main site in Monterotondo (Rome, Italy) is a partnership of several institutions and laboratories with expertise in the field of cryobiology and assisted reproductive techniques. Mutant mouse strains and services on behalf of EMMA can be found on the EMMA webpage.
The IEG/GSF is one of the six partners that contribute to EMMA with a main focus on sperm cryopreservation and in vitro fertilisation.
Since 2000 Prof. Dr. Martin Hrabé de Angelis (head of the Institute of Experimental Genetics) is Director of EMMA. Dr. Michael Hagn is the project coordination officer, supporting the Director with regard to his responsibility to the overall coordination.
