Aims of Research

Research is focused on risk analyses of radiation exposure at workplace and from radionuclides in the environment. The transport of radionuclides through the food chain and the effectiveness of measures taken to reduce exposure are investigated. Radiation exposure which has occurred in the past is assessed retrospectively by means of EPR measurements of teeth and by stimulated luminescence of mineral containing materials such as bricks. Cellular effects caused by radiation are analysed with biophysical models. Radiation induced cancer risk from epidemiological data is investigated by means of biologically based cancer models.

Fields of research:

  • Radioecological models
  • Retrospective dosimetry
  • Biophysical models of radiation effects
  • Cancer risks from radiation exposure
