AIRGENE - "Air Pollution and Inflammatory Response in Myocardial Infarction Survivors: Gene-Environment Interaction in a High Risk Group"
The study assessed an inflammatory response (C-reactive protein, interleukin-6 and fibrinogen) in myocardial infarction survivors, a possible high-risk population, in association with ambient concentrations of air pollution in six European cities and tried to define particularly susceptible subgroups based on genotyping. Ongoing projects are based on further genotyping and follow-up of the study participants.
