Modeling of mass transport (water, tracers, pollutants) through the unsaturated zone
Mathematical models with limited amount of fitting parameters (solution of 1-D flow and transport equations and lumped parameter approaches) will be used. Attempts will be made to describe the heterogeneity of system with multi flow-paths conceptual models. The heterogeneity is evident from experimental data on concurrent water fluxes through the partitioned outflow surface of lysimeter and on tracer concentrations.
