Research Interests
- Modelling and data analysis in nanotoxicology
- Modelling quasi-static structures (e.g. tensegrity structures)
- Signal and image processing (e.g. colour)
Curriculum Vitae
- Giovani read systems engineering (BSc) and computer science (MSc) at Monterrey Tech, Mexico, 1992-1999. He completed a master's thesis at Centre for Mathematical Research (CIMAT) and Monterrey Tech on probabilistic estimation of local scale in 1999. Between 2000 and 2007 he held research positions in the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH, 2000-2001), Monterrey Tech (ITESM, 2001-2002), Max Planck Institute (MPI, 2002-2006) and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI, 2006-2007). He completed a doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) at University of Stuttgart on analytical and numerical investigations of form-finding methods for tensegrity structures in 2007.
Over this time his research has been focussed on data analysis and biostatistics (e.g. nanotoxicity, prognosis of breast and gastric cancer), signal processing (e.g. colour processing, scale selection), and mathematical modelling of discrete structures (e.g. tensegrity, biochemical pathways). Giovani has visited NIMS (Tsukuba), ETH (Zurich) and University of Sheffield, and regularly served in the review board of journals and conferences. Links to publications and citations
