Welcome to the homepage of the Protein Expression and Purification Facility

The Protein Expression and Purification Facility (PEPF) was established in October 2009 to help researchers at the Helmholtz Zentrum München to quicker and better produce their recombinant proteins. To achieve this goal the PEPF provides support and training, materials and facilities for the cultivation of bacteria and (from January 2011) insect cells and for the purification and biochemical and biophysical characterization of proteins.

The services offered by the PEPF and the facilities available within the laboratories of the Institute of Structural Biology are listed in the appropriate chapters.

The PEPF provides an extensive collection of cloning and expression vectors, bacterial expression hosts and proteins for general such as proteases and polymerases. In collaboration with individual researchers at the Helmholtz Zentrum München the PEPF can produce specific proteins for a wide range of applications such as structrual and functional analysis, small ligand screening and antibody production.

General information on how to get from a gene to a purified protein is given in Gene to protein together with protocols that work well in our hands. Finally some useful company and other links are given.
