women in radiation sciences - a century after marie curie

may 18-20, 2009

We cordially invite all of you to attend the workshop entitled “women in radiation sciences - a century after marie curie” – to be held May 18th -20th, 2009 at the Helmholtz Zentrum München, Germany.

One aim of the workshop is to honour the significant contributions made by women to radiation research. Among others, Marie Curie and Paula Hertwig come to mind, as well as pioneers in the field of DNA Repair, Evelyn Witkin and Ruth Hill, and, in Europe, Ethel Moustacchi.

In particular, we want to support the rising generation in modern topics of radiation sciences to participate, and we invite active undergraduates, master and PhD students, post docs and research group leaders. Especially, we encourage female scientists to present their work. In addition to invited speakers, oral contributions will be selected from the submitted abstracts.

We do hope that many of you, junior and senior scientists, male and female, will be able to participate, as we expect this to be a very stimulating meeting. The campus of the Helmholtz Zentrum München offers excellent facilities to support communication, and München at this time of the year is always worth the visit.

We look forward to seeing you in München for an exciting and enjoyable meeting.
