Bioinformatics for the Funktional Analysis of the Mammalian Genome (BFAM)
BFAM aims at the research on bioinformatics integration in the systematical analysis of the static and dynamic properties of mammalian genomes, as, e.g. regulatory effects, genotype/phenotype correlations, or protein/protein interactions.

CIPSM Center for Integrated Protein Science Munich
The DFG-funded cluster of excellence CIPSM brings together internationally recognized scientists in the Munich area from the two leading Universities in Germany, LMU and TUM, as well as from the neighbouring Max Planck Institutes and the Helmholtz Zentrum München. The overall aim of CIPSM is to foster an integrated protein science approach in order to make seminal contributions to our understanding of protein function in living systems.

Bavarian Research Association Adult Neural Stem Cells
The Bavarian Research Association ForNeuroCell pursues the target of developing a regenerative cell replacement therapy on the basis of adult stem cells for acute and chronic diseases of the nervous system, and to implement these results in a clinical application.

Bavarian NMR Center (BNMRZ)
The Bavarian NMR Center (BNMRZ) is a joint infrastructure between the Technische Universität München (TUM) and the Helmholtz Zentrum München (HMGU) and supported by the State of Bavaria. This international state-of-the-art facility uses nuclear magnetic resonance for stuyding the structure and dynamocs of biological macromolecules.

Improvement of cross-sector communication for integrated health care. The projects develops and demonstrates a communication solution based on the standards ISO EN 13606 and „Continuity of Care Record“ (CCR) that will be tested and evaluated within the health network GO-IN of Ingolstadt (Bavaria). It is sponsored by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Public Health.

Protein Dynamics in Health and Disease
The International Graduate Program 'Protein Dynamics in Health and Disease' is part of the ENB initiative and was initiated and is funded by the Government of the State of Bavaria. It represents a close cooperative effort of the internationally renowned Ludwig - Maximilians - University of Munich and the Technical University of Munich with the Max Planck-Institute for Biochemistry in Munich-Martinsried.

European Conditional Mouse Mutagenesis Program (EUCOMM)
EUCOMM integrates European skills, efforts, ressources and infrastructure to produce, in a systematic high throughput way, mutations throughout the mouse genome and will make a major contribution to the analysis of gene function.

Association between Germany, France, UK, Sweden, Portugal, and Italy for systematic archiving of mouse mutants.
EVA
EVA – Markers for Emphysema Versus Airway Disease in COPD aims to identify markers for the two forms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. With the aid of these markers new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches shall be found.

FMT-XCT
FMT-XCT is the acronym for the Hybrid Fluorescence Molecular Tomography and x-ray Computer Tomography System and Method. The project aims to develop new tomographic methods for imaging physiological and molecular functions.

Infrafrontier
The purpose of Infrafrontier–The European Infrastructure for Phenotyping and Archiving of Model Mammalian Genomes is to establish an efficient infrastructure for the use of mouse models in biomedical research. The project builds upon existing platforms and aims to create a pan-European system for phenotyping, archiving and distributing well-defined mammalian models for human diseases.

IGTC (International Gene Trap Consortium)
The goal of the laboratories is to generate a worldwide resource representing all or almost all of the genes in the mouse genome. These laboratories provide logical and bioinformatics support to make the resource accessible and utilizable for researchers.

NorCOMM (North American Conditional Mouse Mutagenesis project) is a large-scale research initiative focused on developing and distributing a library of mouse embryonic stem (ES) cell lines carrying single conditional knockout mutations across the mouse genome.

IMPC - International Mouse Phaenotyping Consortium
The International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC)* is compiling one of the largest Encyclopaedias of Life to describe the functions of the entire mouse genome. The mouse is an important model organism used in research into human diseases, since 99 per cent of genes in humans have counterparts in mice. By understanding the respective functions in a mouse, scientists will be able to improve their understanding of how common diseases, such as Diabetes mellitus, are caused in humans. A group of major mouse genetics research institutions along with national funding organisations have formed IMPC to address this challenge.

Joint Mass Spectrometry Center
The University of Rostock (UR) and the Helmholtz Zentrum München – German Research Center for Environmental Health (HMGU) – contractually agreed on Dec 19th, 2007 to cooperate in the research field of modern analytical methods, especially involving mass spectrometry and ionisation techniques. Executive facilities of the JMSC are the chair of analytical chemistry at the UR and the newly- created cooperation group "comprehensive molecular analytics" at the Helmholtz Zentrum München.
