Translational Center for Lung Research (Comprehensive Pneumologie Center, CPC)
The Comprehensive Pneumology Center is a translational center for lung research which is being built up by Helmholtz Zentrum München together with the Medical School of LMU Munich and Asklepios Pulmonary Hospital in Munich-Gauting. The importance of pulmonary diseases is often underestimated. They are among the most common causes of death worldwide, and according to prognoses of the World Health Organization, their importance will increase in the next 20 years.
The experimental and clinical expertise of the partners is the basis of the scientific concept of the CPC, which brings together experimental and clinical research in the field of pulmonary research in one building to jointly develop this research further.
The translational center combines the scientific research laboratories with a research outpatient clinic and is being built on the high-tech campus in Grosshadern, where it is integrated into modern scientific and clinical infrastructures.
Its task is to shorten development times in the field of pulmonary research and to ensure that the insights gained from the research can actually benefit the patients.
