Service Platforms and Facilities at the Helmholtz Zentrum München

The interdisciplinary research programmes in the Helmholtz Center Munich require scientific service and other large facilities that for reasons of efficiency are best operated centrally. These facilities can also be used by external partners under special agreements.

Official Personal Dosimeter Service

Primary task is monthly determination of individual radiation doses as laid down under the official regulations for occupational exposure to radiation; around 1.3 million dosimeters evaluated annually

Radioanalytisches Laboratorium (RADLAB)

The task of the RADLAB of the Institute of Radiation Protection is the operation of radioanalytical instruments and the development of radioanalytical methods with focus on low-level analysis.

Services in Image Analysis and Statistics

ImStatLab provides consulting services in Image Analysis and Statistics in the framework of the R&D program of the Helmholtz Center Munich. Goals of ImStatLab are the transfer of new methods in Image Analysis and Statistics as well as the improvement of scientific quality of empirical research in the Helmholtz Zentrum München.

European Program Package for the Calculation of Aviation Route Doses (EPCARD, Institute of Radiation Protection)

With this computer program you may calculate online the dose which you would receive along a specified flight due to cosmic radiation. Additionally, you may determine the dose which is accumulated during a stay of one hour at any flight position in the atmosphere.

The Helmholtz Alliance for Mental Health in an Aging Society (HelMA) was founded on 7th July 2008. The aim is to join outstanding researchers to mutually explore the aetiology, pathogenesis of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease and search for potential therapeutic interventions.

Exposure Chambers : Used to simulate the effects of environmental and climatic variation on plant systems.Lysimeter Facility : Used for quantitative evaluation of individual and complex effects in soil-plant systems; provides the link between laboratory experiments and extrapolation to outdoor conditions.
