Research Unit Epidemiology of Air Pollution Health Effects
Head: Annette Peters
Projects on "Measurements of Fine and Ultrafine Particles":
- Aerosol Measurement Station in Augsburg
At the Aerosol Measurement Station in Augsburg physical and chemical properties of urban aerosol are characterized on an hourly basis. This monitoring site has been operated since October 2004. - UFIPOLNET – Ultrafine particle size distribution in air pollution monitoring network
In the framework of this project an inexpensive system for ultrafine particles monitoring has been developed and validated. This device can be integrated in a routine measuring network for measuring size distributions of ultrafine particles number concentrations. - EURAQHEM – Preparatory Work for Optimized European Air Quality and Health Effect Monitoring
Within this project information has been gathered and analysed describing the current practice of ambient air quality monitoring and its limitations in light of health relevance, identifying limitations and need for improvements with regard to air pollution health assessments, formulating recommendations for future routine air quality monitoring as well as health data acquisition and processing, identifying areas of research needs to further substantiate the evaluation of health impact assessments.
