The end of an era: EUROTRAC-2 closes

Dear friends, colleagues and EUROTRAC-2 contacts,

as you may already know, work on EUROTRAC-2, the EUREKA project on the transport and transformation of pollutants in the atmosphere over Europe, second phase 1996-2002, has come to an end. The Final Report of the project in the form of two books: Towards Cleaner Air for Europe - Science, Tools and Applications, Part 1: Results of the Synthesis and Integration Project, and Part 2: Overviews from the Final Reports of the Subprojects, were presented at the "Final Event" which took place in Berlin in March 2003. With the publication and distribution of the Final Reports of the individual subprojects, the work of the EUROTRAC-2 International Scientific Secretariat (ISS) has also now ended.

On a personal note, the ISS staff have moved on to new activities: Pauline Midgley, Executive Secretary, is now at the University of Stuttgart (www.ier.uni-stuttgart.de) and Markus Reuther, Scientific Coordinator, transferred to the Scientific Technical Department (WT) of the GSF Research Centre (www.gsf.de). Sibyl Herrmann, ISS secretary, is now in the GSF Project Management group (www.gsf.de/ptukf) and can forward any questions.

Any books and reports from the two phases of EUROTRAC that were left when the ISS offices closed were transferred to the GSF central library. Please note that Newsletter 24 which was distributed in March 2003 was the final Newsletter of EUROTRAC-2.

Finally may we say that it has been a pleasure and privilege to be part of EUROTRAC-2. We thank you all for your interest and support over the years and wish you well for the future.

Pauline Midgley
Executive Secretary
Markus Reuther
Scientific Coordinator
