Research Unit of Protein Science – Core Facility Proteomics

Homepage

The description of proteomic patterns and markers as well as the composition of protein complexes and their systemic integration into cellular processes within complex protein networks are at the centre of the department’s work. The analytics which are a pre-requisite for these analyses are based on the Core Facility Proteomics which is part of the department and key quantitative proteomics methods are continually further developed  through participation in national and international consortia BMBF GANI_MED , BMBF – HOPE, BMBF – ControlMS , EU Marie-Curie Training Network: EduGlia, EU 7th FWP: AFFINOMICS,  Micheal J. Fox - Foundation for Parkinson´s Research. One programmatic research focus (POFII – Systemic Analysis of Multifactorial Diseases) is the systemic analysis of the cooperation of genetic variance and environmental factors by proteomic methods, especially in the field of neurodegenerative diseases (retinal and cerebral), autoimmune diseases, diabetes and diabetic retinopathy. It is the overall objective of all the department’s activities to identify biological systems and their specific disease-related disorders on a systemic level and finally to contribute to a molecular understanding of diseases.
