Training Are I: Bottlenecks of contaminant degradation in groundwater
WP 4 will perform metatranscriptomic analysis of iron- and sulphate-reducing microbes in contaminated groundwater systems. The workpackage aims at understanding the regulation of genes and metabolism of iron- and sulphate-reducing microorganisms under in situ conditions. One goal of fellow 4 is to establish metatranscriptomic analysis of iron- and sulphate reducing microorganisms. Further gene expression and regulation in lodel laboratory systems such as batch, chemostat, and retentostat will be asessed. Another task of WP4 is the verification of quantitative correlations between environmental gene expression and ongoing attenuation processses in the model aquifer flume system. This task includes and internship at the company Arcadis (T. Held) for additional training in consulting.
