MEMORI (Multidisciplinary Early Modification of Obesity Risk)

MEMORI is part of an evolving ‘Excellence Network Obesity’ aiming at improving the quality of obesity research and accelerating the translation of new scientific knowledge into clinical practice. The study objective of MEMORI is to enhance the scientific basis for effective and efficient early obesity prevention in childhood by an integrated multidisciplinary research approach. MEMORI is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Professor Berthold Koletzko, MD, Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, acts as the Coordinating Investigator of MEMORI.

The Institute’s subproject deals with the “Economic assessment of obesity in children and adolescents and its prevention”.The objectives of the subproject are

  1. to analyze the economic burden of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents. This includes analyses of resource utilization and health care costs linked to obesity in children and adolescents, and
  2. to assess the cost-effectiveness of interventions and programmes to prevent overweight and obesity in this target population.
