Study management and recruitment (ongoing)
Study objective:
Complex diseases are caused by environmental and genetic factors. Their prevalence is rising world wide causing a high burden for many societies and are thus of high socioeconomic relevance. Recruitment of patients suffering from complex diseases is frequently multi-centered including different medical institutions and researchers of different fields (geneticists, epidemiologists, statisticians, medical doctors).
Specific aims:
With our clinical partners we conduct:
- Field work-logistics
- Modelling work flow between the partners and continuous quality control.
- Development of questionnaires and study material.
- Training of staff
- Recruiting of study population
- Investigation of addresses and telephone numbers
- Recruitment of index patients and family members.
- Interviews (face to face, by telephone)
- Coordination of specimen collection through hospitals and general practitioners
- Data management
- Real time study management and document tracking.
- Documentation of data and specimen entry
- Integration of phenotypic and genotypic data
- Plausibility checks, data cleaning and quality control
- Database development (MS Access, Ingres))
- Status reports and descriptive analyses (SAS)
