Background

Health information about a patient can easily be digitally collected by the use of an electronic health record (EHR). So far these are mostly restricted to certain regions, to clinics or doctors’ networks. Cross-sector applications are usually limited to pilot applications.

Reasons for that are manifold. There are e.g. the multitude of varying doctor office computer systems and clinical systems with proprietary data structures and interfaces which limit an effective communication between health professionals. An efficient data exchange has to consider the requirements of the receiver concerning form, content and time of data transfer, but also provide the information in the way the health professional wants it.

Project Activities

Based on the „Continuity of Care Record“ (CCR) the project develops, implements and evaluates a communication solution according to the standard ISO EN 13606. The applicability of the archetype model is being assessed. The designed communication models will be piloted by the doctors’ Network GO-IN in the region of Ingolstadt.

The project will thus demonstrate a flexible, interoperable and, therefore, also internationally applicable European solution.

ByMedConnect is being co-funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Public Health (StMUG).
