TOPIC III "Aerosol Physics"

The Aerosol Physics team advances research of air quality, combustion emission, atmospheric aerosols, aerosol personal exposure, occupational safety, and relevant sampling / measurement techniques. In particular, we focus on the investigation and method development for particle mass, number and size distribution parameters as well as the gas-particle partitioning of semi-volatile substances. We participate in round robin tests for instrument development and support CMA with lab studies, particle generators and source characterizations on-site. In addition, we develop and apply sophisticated computer models to study particle deposition in the human lungs.
