RESEARCH BIOGRAPHY

Uwe Käfer joined the Cooperation Group CMA in June 2016. In his PhD studies he worked on different sample introduction and separation techniques for high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry to characterize heavy petroleum fractions. Therefore, two-dimensional comprehensive gas chromatography and different techniques for thermal analysis have been hyphenated with high-resolution mass spectrometry.

His current research is focused on the untargeted chemical description of complex sample material in the context of environment & health. The major interests and expertise comprise method development and data processing for chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques and the analysis of fossil fuels and anthropogenic aerosols.

Uwe Käfer is employed by the University of Rostock. Parts of his studies are conducted at the Helmholtz Zentrum München as part of the JMSC collaboration.
