The glass-dosimeter of the type SC-2 is our dosimeter designed for indoor use, but also for outdoor areas with photon radiation. It is easy to define the local dose with this dosimeter since you will receive the dosimeter ready for use

The dosimetry with glass is an established method in order to measure the exposure to radiation through X-radiation as well as through gamma radiation. It is possible to cover a substantial energy range with our glass-dosimeters through measurement methods according to the state of the art in science and technology.

The detector is a silver-doped phosphate glass plate which is located in a plastic cassette with tin filters to compensate energy. 

If the detector is met by ionizing radiation, emission centers arise in the phosphate glass plate. They are activated to emit fluorescent light by pulses of a UV-laser. The intensity of the fluorescent light serves as a measure for the absorbed photon radiation. 

We use fully-automated evaluation units of the type FGD-10 in order to calculate the doses.

When reading out the dosimeter, we don’t delete the dose information, thus it is possible to have multiple read-outs. It is however possible to delete the signal by baking out the detector at 400°C.

Our glass dosimeter is approved as official personal dosimeter through the ’Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)’ which is a federal physical-technical institute.

Even if only modern measurement methods are used for the dosimetry with glass, we will replace the cassettes used by us in the area of personal dosimeters (SC-1) after successful usage in the course of the year 2012 by the innovative OSL-dosimeter system
