The Helmholtz Zentrum München is the German Research Center for Environmental Health. As a leading center oriented toward Environmental Health, it focuses on chronic and complex diseases which develop from the interaction of environmental factors and individual genetic disposition. The Helmholtz Zentrum München has around 2,100 employees. The headquarters of the center is located in Neuherberg to the north of Munich on a 50-hectare research campus. The Helmholtz Zentrum München is a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, Germany's largest research organization under whose aegis 18 scientific-technical and medical-biological research centers with approximately 30,000 employees joined their forces.
