Prof. Rühm re-elected in ICRP-positions

The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has re-elected Prof. Dr. Werner Rühm on May, 9th, 2017 in Lima, Peru, for further 4 years as Chair of ICRP Committee 1 on “Radiation Effects”, and as a member of the ICRP Main Commission. The ICRP was founded in Stockholm during the 2nd International Radiological Congress in 1928 originally as the "International X-ray and Radium Protection Committee". ICRP aims to prevent human diseases which may be associated with the use of ionizing radiation and to protect the environment from harmful effects. To this end, the ICRP has developed the currently valid concept of radiation protection, which has been the basis for radiation protection worldwide for many decades. In line with the latest scientific findings in radiation research, this concept is continually being further developed and improved by ICRP, with social and ethical aspects playing a role, as well as practical experience in the application of the concept.
