Jakob Linseisen Appointed President of the German Nutrition Society

The new Executive Committee of the German Nutrition Society: Prof. Dr. Britta Renner, Prof. Dr. Jakob Linseisen and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Watzl.


New President of the German Nutrition Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährung e.V., DGE) is Prof. Dr. Jakob Linseisen. The head of the independent research group "Clinical Epidemiology" at Helmholtz Zentrum München has been elected chair at the DGE annual meeting in Bonn for a period of three years.




Linseisen is heading the Clinical Epidemiology Group at Helmholtz Zentrum München since 2018. Previously, he was significantly involved in the planning and realization of NAKO – currently the biggest long-term population study in Germany. In his research, he focuses on the interplay between nutrition and metabolism as well as the development and course of chronic diseases.


Linseisen holds the Chair of Epidemiology at Ludwig Maximilian University Munich and is Deputy Managing Director of the University Center for Health Sciences at Klinikum Augsburg (UNIKA-T). He is a member of the executive committee of the “enable” nutrition research competence cluster for the promotion of healthy nutrition in all phases of life and a long-standing member of the executive committee. From 2016 he served as DGE vice president.


The members of the independent DGE scientific presidium represent nutrition science in Germany. President, vice presidents and all other DGE representatives work on an honorary basis.
