“Advancing Rare Disease Research and Gene Therapy Applications with Models”

On December 3 and 4, 2018, 200 leading experts on Rare Disease research and Gene Therapy development will gather in Munich for a high level scientific conference. The event is hosted jointly by the two most prominent international consortia for functional mouse genomics - the European research infrastructure INFRAFRONTIER and the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC).

The meeting adresses biomedical scientists in Europe and worldwide as well as scientific networks and organisations advancing the research on rare diseases and developing new kinds of gene therapies. Its aim is to enhance the scientific collaboration between INFRAFRONTIER / IMPC and international Personalised Medicine initiatives, and to inspire further interactions with human genetics centers and clinical consortia. New partnerships may support the rapid impact of mouse functional genomics analyses on the understanding of human genetic variation and disease, and the translation into diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

INFRAFRONTIER is the European Research Infrastructure (RI) for generating, phenotyping and archiving model mammalian genomes. IMPC is a world-wide consortium of research institutions with expertise to produce germ line transmission of targeted knockout mutations in embryonic stem cells for 20,000 known and predicted mouse genes. INFRAFRONTIER GmbH, the coordinating unit located on the campus of its main shareholder, Helmholtz Center Munich, is organizing the meeting.
