4th Helmholtz-Nature Medicine Diabetes Conference
The conference is initiated by the Helmholtz Zentrum München and Nature Medicine and brings together top international researchers in the field of diabetes and metabolic disorders. The framework offers scientists, clinical researchers and biotechnology experts an opportunity for intensive discourse and interactions. In round table sessions, selected participants can discuss their scientific projects and ideas with leading experts. This year one special focus will be on the role of insulin-producing beta cells.
The Helmholtz-Nature Medicine Diabetes Conference presents a number of awards each year. One of these is the Helmholtz Diabetes Award in recognition of the lifetime achievements of a senior leader in the field, which will be given to Sir Stephen O’Rahilly from Cambridge University this year. The Novo Nordisk - Helmholtz Young Investigator in Diabetes Award (HeIDi) will also be presented to one of the 20 nominated rising stars in research who will be presenting short lectures during the conference as they compete for this prestigious research prize. The the HelDi Award jury is a scientific panel consisting of independent scientists.
