German National Cohort (NAKO)

Biomaterials are collected in the GNC Study Centers and transferred to the Central Biorepository at the Helmholtz Zentrum München. The Central Biorepository was established initially in an interim building, the final building will be up and running in 2018. The highly innovative technical concept of the Central Biorepository includes a semi-automated -80°C storage unit and a fully-automated -180°C storage unit, in which samples are stored in vapor over liquid nitrogen. The biorepository is headed by Dr. Andreas Hörlein.
