Research interests

My research interest in epidemiology splits in two different fields. First of all, I am very interested in the influence of weather and climate changes (single parameters like air temperature as well as whole weather classes) on human health, which is especially in Munich a very interesting topic because of the geographical and meteorological influence of the Alps. Secondly, I'm looking forward to some new research results in the field of gaseous and particulate matter air pollution and its influence on the human organism. The center of my research is the reaction of the heart (ECG analysis) and the endothelial function on fine and ultrafine particles exposure. Also gene-environment interactions and epigenetics are becoming a more important part of my work. Moreover, the influence of noise on health outcomes is one of my latest fields of interest. In addition, I enjoy learning new statistical techniques and methods for analyzing the data. Also, I love to give lectures because I think this is a really important part of research work and should be more emphasized in Germany’s scientific education.
