Horizon Research and Innovation: Solving the mysteries of miscarriage

Approximately one in five pregnancies end in miscarriage at their earliest stages and the causes are often unknown.  For an embryo to develop to full-term, the zygote must implant into the wall of the uterus after fertilization. As part of a recent article in Horizon magazine, Maria Elena Torres-Padilla discusses the contribution of her research to uncovering the cellular mechanisms behind successful implantation and its potential impact on our understanding of miscarriage and infertility.
