The Rolf Sammet Guest Professorship, which is endowed by the Aventis Foundation, is one of the oldest endowed guest professorships at Goethe University. Hoechst AG established it in 1985 to honor its long-standing chairman of the board, Prof. Rolf Sammet, who had also been an honorary professor at Goethe University starting in 1975. The university has been continuing the professorship under its own direction since January 2015. The Aventis Foundation furnished the Rolf Sammet Endowment Fund at Goethe University with one million euros. Each year, an internationally renowned scientist in the field of the natural sciences is invited to Frankfurt in order to present his or her research area and current work focuses in a compact form.
