Research Focus

The primary and long-term objective of our group is to advance a systemic view on the development of insulin resistance and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). In close collaboration with our experimental partner we follow a systems biology approach to create and extend intelligent and informative models of molecular interactions and dependencies. We extensively analyze high dimensional data (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics & indirect calorimetry) from living organisms and multiple metabolic active organs and tissues. We apply common and modern machine learning algorithms and develop new methods to analyze and integrate multiple datasets with a focus on the investigation of the regulatory interactions between genetic control and metabolism.
