Neuroendocrinology Unit

Aims: To study the role of astrocytes in neuroendocrinology regulation of energy balance and to identify novel molecular pathways in hypothalamic control of energy balance.

Main Projects

  • Hormonal sensing in astrocytes in regulating neuronal circuitries involved in controlling energy expenditure and food intake;
  • The implication of mitochondrial dysfunction in astrocytes in the development of obesity;
  • Characterization of the different subpopulations of astrocytes in the hypothalamus and its response to a high caloric diet;
  • Study of the functional role of novel transcription factors in neuronal populations controlling energy metabolism at central and peripheral level.
