Project Description

The insulin-producing beta cells display significant heterogeneity, differing in a range of characteristics, including glucose responsiveness, proliferative capacity and susceptibility to metabolic deregulation. By using several strategies, including single cell RNA-seq, the aim is to identify novel markers that can be used to isolate the different beta cells to further investigate their functional differences and their potential use in future therapeutic strategies for diabetes
