Disease-associated interactions

Comprehensive description of complex diseases has to incorporate interactions between homogeneous elements (e.g. protein-protein interactions) as well as between heterogeneous elements (e.g. drug-protein interactions). CIDeR is a manually curated resource of various kinds of disease-related interactions. The dataset includes information from common diseases such as neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer, Parkinson, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), Diabetes type 2, Schizophrenia and Epilepsy.


Curation of mammalian protein complexes

Most processes in organisms are mediated by protein complexes. Complexes appear as structural and functional units, also termed molecular machines. They are also highly dynamic as their organisation and composition vary in time and space.  CORUM is a manually curated dataset of mammalian protein complexes. Annotation of protein complexes includes protein complex composition and other valuable information such as method of purification, cellular function of complexes or involvement in diseases.



Rare cardiac diseases

 PhenoDis provides a comprehensive set of manually annotated    rare cardiac diseases that enables computational approaches for disease prediction via decision support systems and phenotype-driven strategies for the identification of disease causing genes. The database offers detailed symptomatic annotation for 308 rare cardiac diseases using the Human Phenotype Ontology, frequency data of symptoms in respective diseases, presentation of disease-linked genetic variants and epidemiological information.


microRNA expression in diseases and bioprocesses

Progress in RNA research established microRNAs as a novel kind of genetic element involved in regulation of protein synthesis. MicroRNAs are involved in many biological processes and aberrant expression of miRNAs has been implicated in numerous disease states. In PhenomiR data from these studies which is scattered in various articles and in different data formats are presented in a uniform structure. A high quality of the database content is achieved by manual curation. PhenomiR is a collaborative project together with the CMB group (now Institute of Computational Biology).
