FASEB Meeting 2020: The Biological Methylation Conference

Next year's FASEB Meeting "The Biological Methylation Conference: Fundamental Mechanism in Human Health and Disease" will take place in Sicily (Italy) from June 21-26 2020.

Since 1993, this FASEB Science Research Conference (SRC) brings together developmental and cancer biologists, biochemists, chemists, and computational biologists – both clinicians and basic scientists – from academia and pharma to talk about DNA, RNA, and protein methylation and the role epigenetic and post-translational methylations have in human development and disease.

The 2020 FASEB meeting is organized by Clare Davies PhD, Kai Ge PhD, Ernesto Guccione PhD and Robert Schneider PhD, the Director of the Institute for Functional Epigenetics at the HMGU and is dedicated to three major topics:

1. Relevance of protein, DNA, and RNA methylation in the regulation of gene expression, splicing, and genome integrity

2. Rapid developments in the area of RNA methylation and non-histone substrates of lysine and arginine methylation

3. Development of new drug candidates targeting methyltransferases

As keynote speakers Cheryl Arrowsmith, PhD (Structural Genomics Consortium, Toronto) and Steven Clarke, PhD (University of California, Los Angeles) are confirmed. Registration is open until May 5th 2020 and abstracts can be submitted for oral or poster presentations. In addition, the conference will feature four “Meet the Expert” sessions, such as “Women in Science”, “Mentorship” or “Transition to Independence”, and a mini-symposium "Small Molecule Inhibitors of Methyltransferases and Demethylases".
