Review: Transposon Outbursts of Early Development

Source: IES, HMGU

Transposable elements are the largest individual constituent of mammalian genomes. In their recent review published in Trends in Genetics, Maria Elena Torres-Padilla and Diego Rodriguez-Terrones discuss the expression dynamics of transposable elements in the mammalian genome during early pre-implantation development.  They also explore the diversity of these elements between different mammals and their evolutionary significance.
