Alveolar stem cell intermediates in lung regeneration and fibrosis – ERS Fellowship granted to Janine Schniering

We are proud to announce that Dr. Janine Schniering was awarded a 24-month European Fellowship within the ERS/EU RESPIRE4 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellowship programme for her postdoctoral research at Herbert Schiller’s group at the Institute of Lung Biology and Disease (ILBD) and the Comprehensive Pneumology Center (CPC).

Dr. Schniering conducted her PhD studies at ETH Zurich and subsequent postdoctoral studies at the University Hospital Zurich exploring molecular imaging and biomedical image analysis for precision medicine strategies in interstitial lung diseases (ILD). Her knowledge in pulmonary fibrosis, ILD and imaging techniques, she will now use to resolve tissue niche signals that control alveolar stem cell differentiation in lung regeneration and disease.

The ILBD/CPC is recognized as a RESPIRE host center from the European Respiratory Society (ERS) given its excellent research atmosphere offering scientists a superb working environment with state-of-art infrastructure and facilities to carry out research projects in respiratory medicine.
