Barrier diseases

Our research team is interested in proteomic alterations in response to environmental influences or genetic variations, with a main focus on the eye disease age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and the skin disease chronic hand eczema (CHE). Both diseases are dominated by an at least partial loss of barrier integrity, either of the retinal pigment epithelial cells or of the skin.
